A simple solution route to single-crystalline [Sb.sub.2][O.sub.3] nanowires with rectangular cross sections
Article Abstract:
A study presents a route to large-scale synthesis of uniform, single-crystalline, and well-faceted orthorhombic antimony trioxide ([Sb.sub.2][O.sub.3]) nanowires with rectangular cross sections by direct air oxidation of bulk metal antimony (Sb) in a mixed solution made of ethylenediamine (EDA) and deionized water (DIW). Results show that the novel room temperature photoluminescence properties of the nanowires with rectangular cross sections displayed a significant ultraviolet luminescence with a strong emission band at 374 nm, indicating the as-synthesized products with an optical band gap [E.sub.g] = 3.3 eV.

High-quality alloyed Cd[S.sub.x][Se.sub.1-x] whiskers as waveguides with tunable stimulated emission
Article Abstract:
High-quality ultra-long alloyed Cd[S.sub.x][Se.sub.1-x] (0 less than and equal to x less than and equal to 1) whiskers are obtained by a simple thermal evaporation route. The photoluminescence (PL) investigations have indicated that the CdSSe whiskers can act as promising multicolor waveguides and can realize color-tunable stimulated emissions in the spectral range from green to red.

Stimulated emissions in aligned CdS nanowires at room temperature
Article Abstract:
The structure and growth process of high density CdS nanowires (NW) obtained through a thermal evaporation method is investigated. The results indicated that the stimulated emission in the NWs involves the electron-hole plasma and Farby-Perot optical resonant processes at room temperature.
